The YWCA of Greater Portland strives to eliminate racism and discrimination in all its forms and provides growth, education and leadership opportunities for women and families. Yolanda House further strives to empower survivors to achieve personal safety, self-sufficiency, and a renewed sense of hope. We continually endeavor to help end domestic violence within our society through personal advocacy and education.
YWCA of Greater Portland created Yolanda House with the help of many community members and organizations to help those escaping domestic violence to survive. As part of the Domestic Violence community, we are saving lives and empowering women to reclaim their dignity and freedom.

Yolanda House Provides:
Emergency shelter to over 100 adult and child survivors per year
24-Hour crisis line – 2,261 crisis calls per year and 4,652 information and referral calls last year
Outreach and education
A home-like emergency shelter in a confidential location. Each family has their own room; single survivors have their own room or may share with one other survivor.
24-Hour staff available to shelter residents
Emergency food and clothing assistance
Emergency transportation assistance within the Portland area
Domestic Violence advocacy including referrals for legal resources
Advocacy with relocation and address confidentiality programs
Child and teen advocacy
Safety planning for adults and children
Bilingual advocacy
LGBTQ advocacy
Domestic violence support groups
Play spaces for children including a play room and an outdoor playground
Teen-dedicated space to play games, do homework, and create art
Computer resource center for survivors looking for housing and employment
