Location
At the Beach:
Our residential camp is located six miles north of Lincoln City, Oregon on the Pacific Ocean. The site includes 500 acres of breathtaking beauty: two miles of secluded ocean beach, forested acres, river frontage, sand dunes. It is a traditional co-ed overnight residential camp with a long-standing history. Primarily serving youth in grades 1-12, Camp Westwind also offers family camp opportunities including programs specifically for the LGBTQ community.
In the City:
Camp Westwind in the City is based out of the YWCA building in the heart of downtown Portland. Campers come for one-week sessions that last from 8am to 6pm. The day camp focuses on urban gardening, using public transport and getting to know Portland as their big backyard all while playing and having fun.

Staff put campers and their needs first! Camp Westwind is a kid’s world and staff members are role models, teachers, guides, friends, and entertainers. Camp life is a challenge but a great place to put your talents to work and gain valuable experience. Camp staff positions are tremendously rewarding, incredibly challenging, and almost always life changing.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants must agree to uphold the YWCA mission and the purpose statement of Camp Westwind
- All applicants must have a willingness to work hard, be flexible, and desire to serve in a variety of ways
- All applicants must be 18 years or older with the exception of Unit Assistants who must be 17 or older per our camp accreditation
- All summer staff personnel must complete a voluntary background check provide personal references, and agree to abide by all YWCA Camp Westwind summer staff policies
- Some positions require a copy of your driving record
- All applicants must completely fill out and sign the summer staff application.

DATES
Staff starting dates vary according to position. All positions start between June 1st and June 9th. All positions end by August 19th for resident camp and August 26th for day camp. See job descriptions for individual position details.

NOTIFICATION
We begin the interview process in December. BUT IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO APPLY! The earlier you apply the better, but continue checking the website for up to date job openings! All applicants interviewed will be notified within two weeks of their interview on their job status
