Camp Program Descriptions

First Timers Mini Camp – Co-ed $

Session 2A June 25-28

Session 2B  June 29-July 2

Co-Ed  Entering grades 1-3 Limited to 70 campers

Come to camp for 3  amazing nights packed full of many favorite camp activities. First Timers is a great way to introduce your camper to the wonderful magic of Camp Westwind.

 

Youth Camp – Co-Ed $

Sessions 1-5 

Co-ed  Entering grades 2-8 

Campers experience fun, friendship, challenges and adventures while building community in a traditional camp setting.

Teen Adventure – Co-Ed $

Session 1,3,4 

Co-ed  Entering grades 9-12  Limited to 30 campers per session

Teens join together in a cooperative and non competitive environment.  They will experience a two night expedition, challenge course, kayaking, service projects and many other camp favorite activities.

Teen Travel Camp - Co-Ed $

June 23-July 2

Co-Ed entering grades 9-12.  Limited to 8 campers per session. Travel Camp is an epic experience for high school campers to load up into a van, learn to work together as a team, planning the daily activities, budgeting for food and navigating. The price of travel camp includes all lodging, food, transportation and group activities.  This trip leaves from Portland and ends in Portland.  There is a planning info session that will happen in May for pre-trip planning and team building.  Possible travel camp activities; whitewater rafting, high ropes course, service projects, staying in a hostel, hiking, cultural activities, surfing, sailing and much more!

Teen Leadership 1 – Co-Ed  $

Sessions 2, 3,5 

Co-ed   Entering grades 10-12 Limited to 15 campers per session

Designed for those teens that love camp and want to gain or improve on their leadership skills.

Teen Leadership 2 – Co-Ed $

Sessions 4 & 5

*must have completed the following: Teen 1, Teen 2 application and interview to be invited to participate.

Co-Ed Entering grades 10-12

Must participate in both sessions  

Limited to 15 Campers

This program is for graduates of Teen Lead 1 and runs for two full sessions.  Participants learn hands on skills working with children in a team setting, programming skills and leadership. 

 

Family Camps

Father Child Camp $ per adult $ per child

Fathers with their campers ages 3-13

July 5-8

In it's second year,, fathers come to camp with their children to experience the magic of Camp Westwind! Make new friends and enjoy playing on the beach with your children. There are many opportunities to hike, sit by a campfire, create treasures at the craft palace, wade in the ocean, try your hand at archery, paddle a kayak, climb the bouldering wall and enjoy the beauty of YWCA Camp Westwind.

Staff are available to help during activities and may assist fathers on an individual basis. Families are housed together in cabins with their requested cabin mates or with families with similar aged children- all children must be three years or older at the time of camp.

Mother Child Camp $ per adult $ per child

Moms with their campers ages 3-13 years

Session A – July 14-17
Session B – July 19-22

Make new friends and enjoy playing on the beach with your children. There are many opportunities to hike, sing by a campfire, create treasures at the craft palace, wade in the ocean, try your hand at archery, paddle a kayak, climb the bouldering wall and enjoy the beauty of YWCA Camp Westwind.

A caring crew of Mother/Child alumni develops a program for mothers and their children to enjoy together. Teen volunteers are available to help during activities and may assist mothers on an individual basis. Families are housed together in cabins with their requested cabin mates or with families with similar aged children- all children must be three years or older at the time of camp.

CampOUT $ per adult $ per child

LGBTQ Families and their children of all ages

August 8-12
CampOUT is a family camp dedicated to LGBTQ parents and their children. YWCA Camp Westwind strives to bring together a unique, supportive community to enjoy a quality family experience. There are opportunities to hike, sing by the campfire, create art, wade in the ocean, hit a bull’s-eye in archery, climb the bouldering wall, paddle a kayak and enjoy the beauty of YWCA Camp Westwind.

Families are housed together in cabins with their requested cabin mates, or families with similar aged children. During the mornings staff will provide supervision and activities for the children so parents can relax and enjoy the beauty of camp. Staff members lead afternoon activities for families.

Visitors Day and 75th Birthday Bash for Camp

Saturday June 16th
Everyone is welcome to tour the Camp Westwind site, meet the staff, and participate in special activities. Please watch here for more details and river crossing times, which will be announced in January. This is the only opportunity to visit Camp Westwind, as it is only open for campers and staff once summer camp sessions begin.
