Sip. Coffee for a Cause, October 8, 2010

Save the date for the second Friday in October and join us in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square to take a SIP for the YWCA!  Visit us during your lunch hour, from 11am to 2pm, and enjoy a variety of coffees made by local roasters.  Come show your support and vote on Portland's favorite little bean, big bean and best bean!

Past Events

Off-Key, June 26, 2010 at Wieden+Kennedy

Initiated by the YWCA Leadership Board of young professionals, Off-Key is no standard-issue fundraiser.  It was a wildly fun event filled with singing, eating, drinking and the most creative karaoke to be heard in Portland.  Last year, the evening generated $23,000 to support YWCA programs.  Find out more about this year's event.

Stand Against Racism, April 30, 2010

The Stand Against Racism is a nationwide movement of the YWCA that aims to eliminate racism by raising awareness, increasing visibility of racism in our communities, and inviting each of us to take a stand. The YWCA of Greater Portland led the campaign throughout our region, inviting businesses, places of worship, schools, neighborhood associations and anyone interested to join with us on April 30, 2010. In total, 25 organizations committed to Take a Stand (go to www.ywca-pdx.org/stand_against_racism.html for the full list).

18th Annual YWCA Leadership Luncheon

We had record breaking attendance at this year's Leadership Luncheon - close to 1,300 people attended on April 20th!

This year’s Keynote speaker, Victor Rivas Rivers made a big impact with his personal story and call to action for everyone to make a commitment to end domestic violence. Watch our Changing Lives video that includes YWCA client testimonials.

Law Firm Black Helterline Treats YWCA Kids to Holiday Carnival

On December 19th, Black Helterline - in lieu of having their own employee party - created a Holiday Carnival for kids of YWCA clients who usually wouldn't have this kind of opportunity. There were plenty of games, a Bouncy House, arts and crafts, food, and family photos with Santa. In addition, there were plenty of toys and presents for the kids, as well as clothing and needed items for the moms. Read more about it in the press release.

Al’s Garden Evening of Lights
Thank you to everyone who participated in and attended the Al's Garden event on November 4th. It was a huge success for the YWCA and raised nearly $15,000! A special thank you to Al's Garden for hosting us, to Barbara Francis for organizing and to Barbara Alberty and Storyteller Wine for providing our beverages.
