Executive Team

Eric Brown, Executive Director
Mr. Brown joined the YWCA as Executive Director in July of 2008. He most recently served as the CEO of the American Red Cross Pacific NW Regional Blood Services. Eric is dedicated to the field of public health, with a strong personal mission to provide leadership in a community committed to helping people improve their lives. He brings extensive experience in organization development, people development, and effective strategic planning. Educational background includes a BA in Psychology and Education from the University of Colorado and is a Portland State University graduate, receiving his Masters Degree in Public Health in 1997.

Suzanne Doyle, Director, Program Services
Ms. Doyle has directed transitional programs for the YWCA since 1999. She has a Bachelor of Science, completed coursework for a Masters in Healthcare Administration and has taken trainings with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Portland State University's Management Center, the American Parole and Probation Association and the Oregon Criminal Justice Association. She has experience in management, training and supervision.

Julia Harper, Director of Finance and Administration
Ms. Harper joined the YWCA in July, 2009. She was previously employed with RadiSys Corporation as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations. Ms. Harper’s 25 year career in the technology and natural resources industries includes experience in accounting, finance, legal, IT, facilities and human resources. Ms. Harper holds a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Sharon Brabenac, Director of Development
Ms. Brabenac returns to the YWCA after many years of dedicated service on our Board of Directors. She previously served as Development Director at Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) and held leadership positions at Marylhurst University and Portland State University. She holds an MBA in Marketing from PSU.

 

Program Managers

Robyn Fountain, Program Manager – Transition Services
Ms. Fountain began as the Federal Case Manager for the TOP program in 2004 and served as Program Supervisor and Employment Liaison beginning in 2006. Her personal mission statement is “to support, guide and educate individuals as they create order in their lives through their choices and actions.” This mission steers her work with both clients and staff. She holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Portland State University and has completed extensive training as an Offender Workforce Development Specialist.

Kristina John Baptiste, Program Manager – East County Senior Services
Ms. John Baptiste has an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Mt. Hood Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Portland State University. She has worked with various populations in social services, including brain-injured adults, homeless & low-income families, and children with disabilities. Prior to joining the YWCA Senior Services program in 2000, Ms. John Baptiste was a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in St. Lucia, West Indies. She spent a year as Resident Service Director for a non-profit assisted living facility before returning to the East County Senior Services program as Program Manager in 2008.

Janette McMurran Kunkel, Program Manager Camp Westwind in the City
Ms. Kunkel has a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University-Portland in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Science. She has an avid passion for camping and its impact on people of all ages. Janette grew up in a camping culture, working at summer camps and taking her first job out of college as a year-round program director. She has 15 years of experience working with camps in the non-profit sector.

Tonya Parson, Program Manager LearnLinks
Ms. Parson has been working in after school programs serving at-risk youth for over 12 years. She has coordinated after school math and science programs for girls, served as the Assistant Director for Sidwell Friends School Girls Leadership Camp, coordinated curriculum for the Spurlock Museum of World Cultures, and coordinated a mentoring program for homeless and low-income youth. Ms. Parson has a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Illinois.
