Message from YWCA Board of Directors President, Shay LaBray:

May 20, 2011

Dear YWCA friend and supporter,

The YWCA of Greater Portland is at an exciting crossroads. We have just concluded a three year strategic planning process. During this time, Executive Director Eric Brown has successfully led the organization to a place of improved financial stability and operational efficiency. As a result, the YWCA is in a stronger position to continue serving the needs of women, children and seniors in our community and is well-positioned for future growth and opportunity.

In April, Eric announced that the YWCA of Greater Portland is poised to launch a new initiative aimed at assisting women in creating a personal vision to maintain strong, healthy families; increase personal support systems; and attain critical life skills. This initiative was the culmination of substantial efforts by staff and input from our re-invention task force, community leaders and focus groups. We are excited about the road ahead.

As we enter this next phase for the YWCA, Eric has decided that now is the right time to step down from his position as Executive Director. This will allow new leadership to come on board for the upcoming strategic planning and program development process. Eric’s last day with the YWCA will be July 31st.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we invite you to join us in thanking Eric for his outstanding leadership, vision and tenure. We appreciate your support and continued interest as we work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women, children and seniors in our community.

Sincerely,

Shay LaBray

YWCA Board President
